BCGA Private Airstrip Access Program
Register Your Private Airstrip Today

The Private Airstrip Access Program (PAAP) will be launching in the next few weeks. This program provides unprecedented access to private airstrips for BC's Pilots while providing meaningful protection for Airstrip owners by way of a robust pilot waiver that is managed by the BCGA. This program is free of charge from both Pilots & Airstrip Owners.

As a participating airstrip you dictate the terms of use for your airstrip and the BCGA will maintain a CFS like page on its website in order to relay the most current information to pilots. As the airstrip owner you are truly in the driver's seat. For information please have a look at the attached Landowners Guide to the PAAP.

The Private Airstrip Access Program has been made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of Knight LLP. This Lawfirm is lead by a BCGA member and over the past 5 months their team has worked hard to put this program together as their contribution to strengthening aviation in BC.

Flight Sharing Calendar

This calendar can be used to allow members to connect and fly together. We hope that this will help strengthen our community and will also allow members to share experiences and learn from one another. The more our members list their upcoming flights on the calendar the more valuable of a resource this will become.

Airstrip Map

There are approximately 110 aerodromes listed in the Canada Flight Supplement. The BCGA Airstrip Map has been built by BCGA members for BCGA members and includes over 270 Aerodromes, remote landing strips, abondoned airstrips, private airstrips and emergency landing sites. The map is constantly updated using PIREPS submitted by members.

Members Helping Members Directory

The MHM directory is a great way to connect with other BCGA members as you travel around the province. It is an opt-in directory meaning that you can be a member of the association and not share your information or you can choose to share with the other members and in return view the information of members that are also sharing. here are many benefits of the directory aside from just connecting with your fellow BCGA members.

Trip Sheet Library

BCGA Trip Sheets are designed to give pilots access to quick reference information for planning flights. Together as a community we hold a lot of tribal knowledge and we aim to share this knowledge with one another. The trip sheet library will grow as members submit information about new trips.

Knowledge Bank

The BCGA Knowledge Bank is a place to deposit useful information for members to reference. These topics are frequently discussed topics and have been catalogued here for easy reference.

The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) welcomes Nav Canada’s proposed Terms of Reference for a Canadian Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Broadcast (ADS-B Out) performance requirement mandate. Representing over 16,000 pilots and aircraft owners, COPA is the second largest civil aviation organization in the world and we are pleased to have the opportunity to assess Nav Canada’s proposal relative to its impact on general aviation (GA). ................ > Continued in attached PDF Document.

Imperial Oil: Update On Avgas Fuel Quality Issue

3/8/2018

Calgary, Alberta – March 7, 2018 – Imperial has made significant progress towards resolving a potential fuel quality issue in aviation gasoline (sometimes referred to as “avgas” or “100 low lead”) shipped from Strathcona refinery since Dec. 28, 2017.
Imperial has identified all locations that received potentially off-spec product and has completed close to all of the testing at those sites. At this point, approximately 70% of the sites tested have been confirmed as fit-for-use.
We have also been working around the clock to secure alternative supplies from across North America. These efforts have been successful and we believe our supply of avgas to customers will normalize by the end of the month.
“This has been a challenging situation and we appreciate all of the patience, understanding and co-operation we have received from our customers, their resellers and from end-users,” said Jon Wetmore, Vice-President Imperial Downstream. “We recognize this situation has significantly disrupted the avgas flying community and we apologize for this.”
Our investigation into the cause of the issue is progressing. The refinery and our research team are working around the clock to solve the problem, and begin manufacturing avgas again as soon as possible.
We continue to encourage end-users to stay informed about Transport Canada NOTAM instructions.
